How Singles Inferno changed my view on reality TV.

Singles Inferno is a reality show that was released on Netflix in September 2021 and quickly gained a large following on social media platforms like TikTok and Twitter. The show follows a group of Korean singles as they participate in challenges and activities on an island, and is known for its drama and chemistry between the contestants. The show also has hosts, or MCS, who commentate on the action and sometimes make jokes about what is happening.

Compared to other shows in the romance reality genre, such as Love Island, Singles Inferno is a tamer and focuses more on the drama within the show rather than sexual elements. This is demonstrated through the way the show portrays its romantic relationships, which are shown through bikinis and abs rather than explicit sexual content. This approach allows the show to focus more on the development of the romances within it and creates a slower burn element that is interesting to watch.

One example of this is the relationship between Jia and Sihun. Jia gained multiple love interests throughout the show, but Sihun remained interested in her despite her lack of interest in him.
